What is an FSA? 💰

Flexible Spending Accounts let you set aside pre-tax dollars from your paycheck to pay for eligible expenses - saving you up to 30% or more in taxes. There are two main types of flexible spending accounts:

1. Healthcare FSA (HCFSA) – Covers eligible medical, dental, vision, and prescription expenses for you and your dependents (even if they are not covered under your medical plan).

2. Dependent Care FSA (DCFSA) – Covers daycare, preschool, summer camp, and adult care so you can work. This benefit is NOT FOR HEATHCARE EXPENSES

Not all ICUBA schools offer Flexible Spending Accounts.

If you are unsure if your school offers Flexible Spending, contact your Human Resources or Benefits Department directly.

Plan Year 2025–2026 Contribution Limits and Plan Year 📅

• HCFSA: Up to $3,300

• DCFSA: Up to $5,000 (per household)

How It Works in Nutshell ⚙️

• HCFSA funds are available in full on April 1 (or upon your initial enrollment).

• DCFSA funds become available with each paycheck.

• HCFSA & DCFSA funds can be used from April 1 – June 15 of the following plan year.

• DCFSA reimburses dependent care that’s already received - up to your balance.

• ICUBA's plan year begins April 1 and ends March 31 of the following year.

• Flexible Spending is a use-it-or-lose-it benefit.

• ICUBA uses a Grace Period for unused expenses at the end of the plan year.

  
  

Have an HRA too? 🔄

If you have both an HRA and HCFSA, HCFSA funds are used first when swiping your ICUBA Benefits MasterCard. To use HRA first, you will need to submit a manual claim with Ameriflex.

Claiming DCFSA Expenses 📄

Most childcare providers don’t accept the Ameriflex card, which means you may need to submit claims for reimbursement manually.

To submit claims, you’ll need:

1. Service dates

2. Description of the service provided

3. Cost of the service provided

4. Childcare provider’s name, address & SSN/ITIN

5. Dependent’s name & relationship
